For sale is a vintage book, "Constitution and Laws of The Furniture Employe's Mutual Benefit Association of Evansville, Indiana." Written in both English and German, this extremely scarce 25-page pocket-size hardback was intended to explain the benefits the association to local furniture workers, especially those employed by Karges and Bockstege. Employees were allowed to join the association for an initial fee of 50 cents, plus 10 cents per month. Members were permitted to speak at meetings "on any subject (politics and religion barred)." This book book measures 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches and dates to around 1906, when the association was organized. It is in very good condition, with no writing on the pages.
