From my personal collection:

A very unusual and rare men’s Bulova Deco gold filled watch from 1940’s with fancy curved, oversized lugs and a beautiful three-tone Roman dial.

I’ve never seen this model before, there are so many aspects that are unique and different from other Bulovas from that period.

The fancy sculpted case measures 21.5 in diameter and 39.5mm in length. The 16mm turtle style lugs are over emphasized and curved outwards, adding more presence and heft to the entire watch. Case is 10k gold filled and in excellent condition with minor wear. 

This collection worthy Bulova features a stunning original 3-tone dial with Roman numerals; the other minute track is a rose/copper color, adding an additional touch of sophistication to this time piece.

The dial also features a sub-seconds dial at 6’o clock. Overall condition of this untouched dial is excellent with some aging and patina across.

The crown is original, signed Bulova.

The clean Cal 8AC manual wind movement is one of the more refined Bulova movements I’ve seen; 21 jewels with 5 adjustments, 2 positions, which is something you’d normally see from the high end Swiss movements. 

Although I don’t know the service history of this watch, I can happily report that it is winding and running smoothly, keeping excellent time.

No warranties are implied, however, and a service is always recommended on a vintage watch when changing hands.

The strap is a rare vintage GEMEX in gray calf skin with boxed stitching and single wide keeper which looks perfect and period correct with this Bulova. Strap will fit a regular wrist of up to 7.2”. 

The flat Acrylic crystal  is in good condition with some wear on the outer beveled edges which doesn’t distract from the overall appearance.

All in all, this is a beautiful vintage Deco Bulova that can be worn daily and proudly displayed in your collection.
