Publisher's blue cloth with gilt titles and black decoration to spine and upper. Yellow-coated endpapers. A moderately used copy, edges with some toning, ink names to endpapers, cloth rubbed to extremities, spine slightly dulled. Very good. An adventure of Captain Hatteras, first published in English in 1875 in approximately the same format, and lavishly illustrated by M. Roux. The novel portrays the adventures of The Baltimore Gun Club as they purchase the Arctic, and seek to change the Earth's climate zones by shifting its orbit. The privately-owned North Pole thus becomes a tropical paradise.
