GI JOE Special #1 RARE!!! Cover is a Todd McFarlane homage, and the interior is actual Todd McFarlane pencils from a rejected issue #61. The story behind the publishing of this book is dope. In 1987 Todd McFarlane drew GI JOE #60, and then this book was originally to be GI JOE #61. The finished book of early McFarlane pencils was rejected by Marvel, and had to quickly be redrawn by another artist, Marshall Rogers, at record speed because it was important to the overall storyline of GI JOE. It included the death of Cobra Commander. The art was shelved, and printed as a SPECIAL after the run of GI JOE, with the Spider-Man homage cover. It's fascinating because if you read the printed issue of GI JOE #61, you will be able to see two different artists takes on the same script, including that by an early 1987 McFarlane.

In mint condition, this book is in the thousands. This is a great opportunity for you to get a rare McFarlane issue into your collection!

ABOUT THE SELLER

Welcome to Geek Sesh, where comic book history meets personal passion! I'm known in the art world as "Cojo Art Juggernaut". My journey began as a Marvel Comics High School Intern from '93-'95, coloring comics at just 16 years old—part of Marvel's last High School internship era. I was also the president of the *Sleepwalker Fan Club, I cherish those obscure 90s Marvel gems.

Most comics I offer bypassed distribution, bundled for Marvel interns and staff. Untouched, they lay preserved in my parents' attic for three decades, awaiting rediscovery.

At SVA (School of Visual Arts), I honed my coloring craft working for Marvel and Atomic Paintbrush. Soon I branched out and started to color my own drawings. I was drawing for Maxim Magazine, Complex Magazine, Wizard Magazine, Nike, MTv and Nickelodeon. My NYC solo exhibit, 10Subjects featured one painting in particular "Superheroes," which was an abstract of Marvel & DC interpretations—an 8ft x 3ft testament to my youth and the characters that made me.

Now in the Ozarks, I've unearthed my 20 long boxes from my parent's attic in New Jersey, spanning the early 90s era with keys, surprises, and treasured relics from earlier eras left by my late uncle.

Each sale helps, as the story will all be part of the GEEK SESH documentary, chronicling this odyssey from Marvel intern to lifelong artist. DM for interviews, and explore my store at GEEKSESH!

Let's connect, especially if Sleepwalker, or 90s era comics hold a special place in your heart!
