Important: Thuraya does NOT offer global coverage so please ensure that the region you wish to use the network in is available on the coverage map which you can find in the images. You will be unable to use any Thuraya equipment including handsets and/or airtime to connect to the network when outside of the Thuraya satellite footprint area. This includes North and South America, Australia and parts of Asia.
The Thuraya XT-LITE provides reliable
satellite phone connectivity with unbeatable value. It is designed for
cost-conscious users who need to stay securely connected, without compromising
on a clear and uninterrupted connection. It is one of the only phones that
offers dual GSM & satellite voice calling*. It is very easy-to-use. You can
make phone calls and send SMS messages in satellite mode, whether you are
crossing the desert, sailing at sea or climbing mountains.
*You can only
connect to both GSM and satellite networks on a single SIM with a Thuraya
post-paid SIM. If you would prefer to use a Thuraya pre-paid SIM you must
remove this and insert the GSM SIM card in order to access the GSM network.
Thuraya XT-LITE Features
- Make calls and send SMS messages in satellite mode whenever there is no terrestrial network available. The advanced omni-directional antenna ensures uninterrupted communications, offering seamless walk-and-talk functionality for calls-on-the-go.
- Thuraya XT-LITE enables reliable communications with a long-lasting battery which provides up to six hours talk time and up to 80 hours standby time.
- Simply charge your phone and ensure that your SIM card is working. It’s that simple. You can then program the Thuraya XT-LITE to one of the 13 languages available (Simplified Chinese is available as a separate firmware).
- Thuraya’s satellite network is renowned for having the most reliable satellite coverage, including approximately 160 countries or two-thirds of the globe. The Thuraya XT-LITE enables you to receive a call notification even with the satellite antenna stowed, keeping you connected at all times.
- Additional features include: Address book, alarms, calculator, calendar, call logs, conference calls, contact groups, speed dialing, stopwatch, and world time.
SIM Card Airtime Information:
A premium rate is charged to territories outside of Nova countries. SIM cards are valid for 12 months and can be extended by adding pre-paid airtime vouchers. See below all the locations that are in the NOVA Zone.
Calls made within the Thuraya NOVA zone are charged at 0.90 units per minute to a landline or mobile number and calls made outside the NOVA zone are charged at 1.85 units per minute. Calls made to other satellite networks are charged at up to 10 units per minute.
SIM card will be sent inactive. Please contact GTC to activate your SIM upon receipt of your order. Validity will start from the point of activation.

Thuraya NOVA Sim Terms and Conditions:
First call must be made within 12 months, SIM is deactivated if the first call is not made within 365 days from the date of activation.
The Thuraya NOVA SIM has an initial validity of 365 days from first call.
Renewal Fee: $39.00 (For every 365 days. 39 Units deducted automatically from balance on renewal date)
If the account balance is below 39 units at the renewal time, the account enters the 3-month grace period (Incoming calls are still possible).
If the account is refilled within the grace period, the existing balance will be restored.
If account is not refilled within the grace period, it will be deactivated and the number will be lost.
