Fresh seeds. Store the seeds in a warm place (room temperature or slightly warmer) over the Summer and sow in Fall when temperatures drop.

Sow the seeds on the surface or very shallowly covered in a well draining soil, e.g. 50% potting mix + 50% perlite or crushed brick. Germination is optimal at cool temperatures (60 degrees during the day, 40-50 at night). It usually takes 4-6 weeks for seedlings to show.

Lachenalia are winter active bulbs: leaves will appear in Fall and die off when temperatures rise in Spring. During the growing season, keep the plants in a cool and bright spot but frost free. Don't let the soil dry out entirely during the growing season but avoid soggy conditions. When the leaves start dying towards the end of Spring, taper off and stop watering and keep the bulbs dry over the Summer.
