Is the game authentic?
Yes.

As you can see the cartridge looks red/pink against the light; this is to allow infrared communication with the pokewalker accessory. Fake cartridges don't have this feature, and would therefore just look black against the light.

Is the game region-free?
Yes, HeartGold is a region-free game so it will work on any compatible (Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DSi, 2DS, 3DS) console from any region.
We have tested it on a Japanese 3DS and it works fine.
