...or are they Brown and Orange?!?

REBUILT & RESTORED 04/2024
By an authorized JBL Technician

Featuring that great big ***James B. Lansing Sound***!!!

****ONE OWNER SINCE 1974***

This auction is for a pair of one of the most sought-after vintage speakers ever,
the JBL L25 PRIMA...

THE PRIMA WAS A NEW DESIGN FOR JBL IN THE EARLY 1970's.
FROM THE ADVERTISEMENT:
Bright, gutsy thermoplastic enclosures. Blue! Yellow! Charcoal! White! Brown! Red! Orange! Color-coordinated grilles.  Storage modules in the same colors to mix and match. And a brilliant top to bottom design that invites stacking, interlocking, building a room around Prima modules!

These speakers were bought new in Denver, Colorado in 1974 during the owner's high school years.
After surviving college in the Mid-West, these speakers spent about 35 years at a weekend retreat in Upstate New York, where they were used sparingly by the "clean-living" owner (no pets/no kids/no smoking).

These speakers were RECENTLY RESTORED in April 2024 by the local JBL FACTORY-AUTHORIZED SERVICE AGENCY.  Please see the receipt for $298.55 describing the service done.  They sound better than new and are currently being broken in gently.

This RESTORATION included 2 NEW JBL 8 ohm 10" Woofers.  The new Woofers have huge magnets for that deep JBL bass that are loved by so many.  Midrange and high are covered by the classic JBL "L25" Tweeter, reproducing sounds perfectly, producing that famous big JAMES B. LANSING SOUND. Upon close inspection, the technician decided only one Tweeter needed replacement. The other tweeter has a dimple (see photos) but functions and sounds perfect. The restoration INCLUDED SOLDERING, CLEANING, and REWIRING of the CROSSOVER NETWORKS in both speakers.

The overall results of the restoration are amazing--the breadth and the depth of the sound are overwhelming, the imagery and liveliness of the music present a full, wide soundstage that tickles the ears.

As the 1974 JBL brochure said, "SUPERB HIGH FIDELITY REPRODUCTION THAT WILL RETAIN ITS CLARITY YEAR AFTER YEAR"!!!

Complete with ORIGINAL 1974 BROCHURE/INSTRUCTION MANUAL

Functional Notes:  All Drivers and Crossovers are original or official JBL replacement parts (see receipt from restoration). They work and sound as they should. Regarding Power Capacity, JBL says that "as little as 10 watts RMS per channel will reproduce clean sound at comfortable listening levels", but I prefer driving these with my McCormack DNA-1 amp or some other higher-powered audiophile amplifier.  The results are quite palpable.

Cosmetic Description:  These speakers are from 1974. Cabinets and grills have some small imperfections like cuts, scuffs, and dust. Please see the pictures for all cosmetic conditions. They have been cared for and loved for their entire life by their current owner.
***HOWEVER, while one grill (the BROWN one) is in perfect condition, the other grill (the ORANGE one) has been glued and repaired in a few different spots after cracking. Humidity has caused some warping as well. Nonetheless, the imperfections are not visible at normal listening distances and the grill stays firmly in place on the speaker when played.
