- You will receive 100 individual Bigleaf Maple seeds, organically grown and sustainably harvested from a private woodland in Sequim, Washington.
*** Please be aware that some of the tails on these seeds may be broken or completely gone. The tails are not important, as the only purpose they serve is to help the seeds travel more efficiently to the ground. If for some reason you would like the tails to be on all of your seeds, please let me know in a note attached to your order, and I will accommodate your request.
ABOUT
The Bigleaf maple (aka Broadleaf maple, Oregon maple) is a beautiful western US native tree with large green leaves. In the fall, before the tree sheds its leaves for the winter, the colors of the leaves change from green to gorgeous yellows, oranges, and occasionally reds. These beautiful trees are hardy to USDA zones 5-9, and they grow best in full sun to partial shade. They would make excellent additions to your rare plant collection, or just make a unique statement in your yard.
Soaking seeds in water for 24 hours before stratification is recommended.
60-120 days cold, moist stratification is required for this type of seed
Fall sowing in mulched beds is preferred to artificial stratification.
