I saw an Amazon Review about this book, and I couldn't describe it better than this perceptive reviewer (PJRoss):  "A peek at bygone times. All of the L. T. Meade books are of interest to the literary buff, the historian and the social interactions of the 1900’s find these books to be of interest. As a comparative study for young people today vs their counterparts in the novels, will give great insight to how much our social interactions have changed over the years. Makes a good read for a summer project."

As for me, I bought the book because of the lovely cover and the charming title. The book is in very decent condition, given its age (circa 1912 per Amazon). I have taken pictures of the imperfections of the book cover, and examples of the "worst looking" pages. The rest of the book is in nice, clean condition, with some yellowing and brittling of the pages, as is customary for most books of this age.

This book has signs that it was read, and perhaps the occasional dirt smudges (pictured) were from being brought out into the garden to read in a wicker swing...perhaps some pages are chipped due to being dogeared until the  reader could resume their place.... In other words, it's an imperfect, perfect book for someone's collection of lovely old books.
