Written in 1960, this book is an interesting snapshot of Russia/the Soviet Union at that time, and subsequently of the state of the world. Split into ten chapters, it covers a variety of subjects including Russian history, education, literature, the economy, and how the class system worked in Soviet Russia. Each chapter is about five to eight of text, followed by eight to ten pages of photos, both color and black and white, corresponding to the chapter's topic. The shots are often grainy, especially the color ones, but they do go a long way towards showing day to day life.
