Staple rust: Slight.
This is a mid grade item. It will have enough minor defects that it is in clearly worse condition than a brand new freshly published comic, magazine, or book. Allowed defects for this grade include: a spine split of less than half an inch, minor water spotting or other residue, impacted corners, and an accumulation or spine stresses that may break color. An item could be assigned this grade due to either an accumulation of minor defects or one or two moderate defects.
Cover by Joe Salini. Published by Chuck Wooley in 1968. "A Listing Of Whitman Material" by Dale Manesis continues. Dale's installment is a very detailed alphabetical list of the Whitman BLBs from Lone Ranger 1407 to Tarzan The Terrible 1453. There are a lot of other features, including numerous fan art illos, fanzine reviews, an X-Men Quiz, reminisces from a Golden Age collector who began collecting about 1940, and more info on foreign comics. For some, the highlight is three pages of photos from the 1968 St. Louis Gateway comic book convention. Pictured are many young fans, a dealer's table with (among other comics), More Fun 52, Flash 1 and Captain America 1, plus screen captures from the movie Metropolis and the serial Curse Of The Aztec Mummy. Other pics include Roy Thomas, and shots of Marvel original art covers. "For Sale" ad highlights find Buddy Saunders (founder and owner of My Comic Shop) mentioning that "Every month I receive hundreds of comics," plus ads offering Amazing Fantasy 15 for $7.50, Avengers 1 for $2.50, and X-Men 1 for $3.00. The back cover is a dramatic full page portrait of Kong by Hollebeke. 8.5-in. x 11-in. 36 pages B&W. Cover price $0.50.
