I have 20 years of experience selling comics on eBay and always take great care to package rare comics well for shipment — my assumption when packing, is that the box will be dropped on its corner by a postal worker, and therefore needs to be protected accordingly. I am a collector like you and I've received my fair (unfair) share of cracked cases and bent-up books.
