Overview

This listing is for a set of Altec Lansing ACS44 computer speakers.

It’s a left and right speaker set with a subwoofer that share wired connections, which are included.

The woofer is where the audio inputs are. There are two ports that will accept a 3.5mm jack, which is not included.

The left and right speaker each measure about 5” tall, 4” across the face, and 3.5” deep.  They each have a ratcheting track to swivel back and forth to slightly tilt them up or down.

The subwoofer measures about 5.5” tall, 11” across the face, and 7” deep.  It also serves as the power supply, so you have to connect it to the L/R speakers to use the set at all.  The woofer is also on the heavy side, weighing about 7lbs.

The speakers are tested and working.

Condition

The speakers and woofer are in acceptable condition.  As you can see from the photos, they have some small marks and scratches throughout.  The plastic on the housing has yellowed with age.  The metal screens on the front of the L/R speakers has some wear to the paint.  And the left speaker is missing a little foot.

Sound

These speakers sound great to me, especially with the richness of the bass.  I do have to keep the volume up a little high to reduce the hum of the tweeters.   For example, when there's no music playing, you can hear a signal hum.  And if your music has quiet passages, the hum (or faint static?) is also apparent.

The woofer is also very powerful for its size, in my opinion.  Solid thump for low end.

This is a speaker set I would recommend to retro collectors.  Especially if you have an older, beige PC tower setup and you want a matching speaker set.  And you like it loud.  Otherwise, there's more balanced 2.1 systems out there.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers!
