Monotype Recorder 1927: The Roman & Italic of John Baskerville

London: Monotype, 1927.

Some bumping and torn corners on the cover, some edge browning; inside pages clean, clear and unmarked with tight binding. The Monotype Recorder was published by The Monotype Corporation to promote its typefaces, of which Baskerville was one of the most popular with book publishers. This issue has a stuck-in print of the portrait of the Birmingham printer and typefounder, John Baskerville, illustrating 'A Critique' which was probably written by Monotype's typographic consultant Stanley Morison. The issue reproduces exerpts from several of Baskerville's publications in different sizes of the new Monotype typeface.
