Up for auction ... an old-timey, metal hook for buttoning those high-top shoes and boots ... or perhaps corsets and gloves ... from the way-back days!

Such devices were handy back in the Victorian era, or even into the 1900s, when boots and shoes for both men and women often boasted up to 15 buttons each! These buttons were sewn into the footwear leather -- making it difficult to "button" with fingers, as you can with fabric. So dames and dandies put these hooks through the buttonhole, "grabbed" the button and pulled it through!

This vintage find is silver-toned, in solid shape and does show some tarnish/wear, expected given its age. It measures slightly more than 3.5 inches long.
