This unit has been converted for use with six D-cells, instead of the original (and now very expensive and hard-to-find) 45V batteries. However, when turned on, it simply registers full scale, so it's being offered as "Parts Only". Might be a simple fix, might need replacement of one of the very rare miniature vacuum tubes that it's full of. Either way, it polishes up nicely and is a fascinating piece of prospecting history.

Physically, it's in excellent condition, with just a little bit of minor damage to the chrome on the handle. This is a scintillation detector, not a geiger counter, designed specifically to detect gamma radiation and shielded from alpha and beta. No idea what the condition of the scintillator crystal might be, but it's been in storage in (very dry) Colorado for the last 50 years.

With original leather case.
