This tree was incredibly purple and looks just like Indian Rosewood, so I had to have it! The majority of Black Walnut you come across has been steamed to hide the sapwood and darken the heart and sapwood overall and tends to be very dark brown. Green Walnut is actually normally rainbow colored. 

Walnut plays like the lovechild of Mahogany and Rosewood!
