Up for auction is this excellent condition whale oil tavern lamp. This one is unique with its raised double whale oil burner, as made. I’ve sold quite a few but never with a raised burner.

This measures 20” in length with the long handle. This was most likely modified to light higher reaching candle, light lanterns, etc. The tavern lamps were made to take tipsy tavern patrons up to their rooms, and these lamps are often mistaken for oven lamps which were primarily iron.

Excellent condition with minor wear to handle, original patina wood.
