It is very hard to find a 1946 Weaver K4 in very good overall condition, fully functional, and perfectly clear optics. While most books indicate Weaver started making the K models in 1947, I have a letter, signed by Bill Weaver, indicating a start date in late 1944, with the first scopes to hit market in 1945.

This has a 1" tube, and internal adjustments, the first mass-produced scope to have either of those advancements. The finish is 99% of the original Weaver finish. Two small, smooth scuffs on the objective end, likely from a leather lens cover, are somewhat visible. Both have been touched up with the original blue-black hue. All else is untouched, and very good to excellent. All mechanicals function as new. I tested the adjustments for proper operation, and the eyepiece for focal adjustment.

This early scope also has the brass lens retainer on the objective end. From the factory, these were covered with black paint. When it wore off, there was beautiful, shiny brass beneath the paint. Some of the paint is still present.

The scope is 11.5" long, and weighs 11 ounces.

The optics are almost unbelievable for a 78 year old scope. Clear to the edges, no blur in the view, no delimitation or rainbows. Bright and clear enough for any kind of hunting. The pic was taken on a very bright day, with dark shadows. The leaning tree in the foreground is 104 yards, the small square box on the left edge is 210, the hill in the sunlight is 275, and the front of the home across the range is 305, very clear at all distances.
With purchase, I will include a photocopy of the page in the 1946 pamphlet illustrating this scope, and it's features.

I will ship via USPS for $14, and I pay for insurance. I will ship within 3 days of verification of payment, and you will get a tracking number.  I will accept a return if, and only if, there is a material defect in the description. Please understand you are not buying this scope to "see if it matches the color of my rifle", or other trivial concern. If you have questions, please ask before bidding. Thank you for reading through the listing.
