It's a precious tool to understand, on a global scale, how women live.' – Tacianziparla, Bookstagrammer; 'This project is not just an atlas on women: it is a remapping of the world that takes women seriously.' – Veronica Tosetti, Il Libraio; 'An appealing idea, imaginatively executed.' – Times Higher Education Supplement; 'Much of the plethora of information contained within the pages is shocking. A fascinating document, and an extremely valuable one.' – Independent magazine; 'A major reference tool. The atlas format and highly original colourful statistical illustrations make this book as enjoyable as it is important.' – Library Journal; 'A fascinating atlas; a compilation of facts about women's status, work, health, education, and personal freedom across the globe.' – The Independent; 'Here is the innovative atlas no thoughtful person, male or female, should be without.' – The Washington Post; 'An imaginative, useful book... Unlike anything I've ever seen. Also fun to use.' – Alice Walker; 'In this era of globalization, we are in desperate need of accurate information that demonstrates how crucial women are to the whole process. This atlas does just that. Congratulations: Joni Seager has done it again!' – Kum-Kum Bhavnani, professor of sociology, University of California, Santa Barbara; 'The completely updated and revised fifth edition of this groundbreaking work couldn't be more timely—and it's a safer gift than a pink pussy hat. Seager, who's consulted on several global gender and environmental policies with the UN, provides a wealth of up-to-date information on how women are living today across continents and cultures.' – Elizabeth Anne Hartman, Read it Forward Best Nonfiction Books to Give as Gifts; 'Full of statistics, knowledgeable data-breakdowns and smart infographics, the easy read this atlas is belies the enormous effort and dedication behind the research. This will be the basis for many a policy discussion and should be available for all to see.' – Blue Wolf Reviews; 'The Women's Atlas is a really special tool that will help you find your voice and give you ammunition to change the world.' – Femi Books, Bookstagrammer; 'The Women's Atlas by Joni Seager is the PERFECT gift for anyone in your life that loves all things stats, charts, and graphs. Each page features information on women from all across the world, formatted in a way that's easy to understand. As a huge stats/graphs nerd myself (but who is also not scientifically inclined), I enjoyed looking through this book and sharing endless "Did you knows?" with my friends and family.' – Reading Women; 'Over the past few years, I've read some brilliant feminist works, and I love how this brings it together; Roxane Gay talking about violence against women, or Caroline Criado Perez talking about economic injustices. Definitely one I'd recommend coming and the kind of book that justifiably belongs in schools and libraries everywhere.' – Tulip Books, Bookstagrammer; 'The book encourages an intersectional and world view. It very carefully covers the experiences overtly of women who are not white, cis-gendered, straight and middle-class (although some of the experiences are of these people, who constitute my demographic group), thus answering one of the main criticisms of the feminist movement, especially at this time of identity politics.' – Shiny New Books; 'Reproductive rights, domestic violence, sex trafficking, and child marriage aren't just issues in the U.S.—they're also issues abroad. Now in its fifth edition, The Women's Atlas offers an up-to-date perspective on how women live around the world. It's a must-have for every feminist bookshelf.' – Hello Giggles; 'It shows how and where we've seen social advancement, where it's sorely lacking, and in what ways it's wildly unbalanced based on country, race, or sexuality. If you're looking for the story of women, you can't get more global than this.' – Yahoo Lifestyle; 'Seager takes us through how discrimination is measured, and which countries have segregated workforces and "marry-your-rapist" laws. She deals with equity and intersectionality in all its forms, going "beyond the binary" and trying not to create a monolithic message. If you want to remain informed for yourself or find material for the most hard-hitting debate, The Women's Atlas will provide it in spades.' – Brit + Co; 'Through maps, charts, infographics and illustrations, The Women's Atlas takes a comprehensive look at the key issues facing women today, from gender equality, literature, the culture of beauty, work and the global economy, domestic violence, motherhood and more. This is an invaluable resource for any feminist.' – Sarah Shaffi, Phoenix Mag; 'The most important book that will be published this year.' – Catherine Mayer, co-founder, Women's Equality Party; 'Not only offers a global view of the lives of women, it also shows their desires to effect revolutionary change.' – Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, President of Iceland 1980–1996; 'This one-of-a-kind book brings women's lives out of the shadows. Every page lights up injustices and makes clear the work that remains to be done.' – Leymah Gbowee, Nobel Laureate and Liberian peace activist; 'Global events continue to reveal the importance of understanding how women live across continents and cultures. Using maps and graphics in this new revision of her eye-opening book, Joni Seager uses up-to-the-minute research and data to show what shifts have occurred in the ten years since the first edition was published – the strides made by women and the distance still to be travelled.' – Sisters for Change - Reading List; 'It was so fascinating to learn more about women around the world. It was obvious to see where improvements have been made and where we need to see more.' – Kayla's Bookish Life, Bookstagrammer, 5/5-star review
