This is an original 1940 hardcover printing of the elementary reader "Roads of Progress," written by William H. Johnson and published by Lyons and Carnahan as part of its Guidance in Reading series in its Basic Reading Program. The reading selections feature nice illustrations and teach lessons in history, geography, and science, all themed on human progress.

Overall, the copy being offered is good condition. In my first four photos, you'll see that the covers have fairly light wear, and there are many small stains on the page edges; the pages are otherwise mostly clean (with occasional light stains), crisp, and strongly bound. The pages are also slightly wavy, perhaps from having been stored in a humid area in the past. Finally, my 5th photo shows that the surface layer at the top of the first page has had a small 1/4" X 3/4" area of its upper left corner torn away.

Please review my photos and feel free to message me if you have any questions or if you would like to see more photos; the book shown in the photos is the exact book you will receive.
