Roco
HO Gauge (1:87 Scale) Plastic Model
No. 1312 - Steyr 91 Fire Engine

Roco is an Austrian company, founded in 1960, which, in addition to making model railways, is perhaps best known for its 1:90 scale "Minitanks" range of models. Around 1980, after Minitanks began to be produced in 1:87 scale, the company also started to produce a new, parallel, range of civilian, public and emergency service vehicles. Some were based on Minitanks toolings, but others were completely new. Roco also copied a number of Wiking models.

In 2005 the company went bankrupt. After restructuring, a new company, Modelleisenbahn GmbH, was formed to consolidate the model railway market. The Roco brand and associated logo continued to be used. The Minitank series was sold to German model car maker Herpa, leaving Roco to concentrate more on the model railways side of the business. In 2008, Modelleisenbahn acquired another model railway manufacturer, Fleischmann. Both brands continue to operate today, with Roco focused on HO gauge while Fleischmann makes mainly N gauge.
