Full reverse calf with a red tooled label between raised bands and darkened blind stamping to boards. Binding rubbed with small losses of leather at extremities, some lightly peeling, and with few marks to boards. Both boards attached with joints rubbed and staring, and hinges cracked. Shelf and edge wear. Small damp stain to bottom page edge. Few leaves stick out of the page edges. Front blank with some tears and mostly detached. Frontispiece with small edge tears, not affecting the illustration. First few leaves lightly creased. Text block with occasional foxing and occasional marginalia and underlining, extensively to some leaves/sections, presumably in the hand of the 1823 ownership inscription. Ink inscriptions to front pastedown and front blank, and pencil inscriptions to rear blank and rear pastedown. Last few leaves damp stained. Plate facing Y1 very loosely attached. Plate facing 5A1 detached. Edge tears to 6G2 and rear blank.
