First American edition, first printing hardcover copy of The Logic of Scientific Discovery by Karl R. Popper (Basic Books, 1959). The iconic mathematics / science / logic / philosophy book, originally published in German in 1934, translated to English for the first time here and with over a hundred pages of additional writings by Popper for this edition. Jacket is protected in new archival sleeve but with some tanning to covers and shelf wear around the edges - including chipping, creases and small tears. Boards are straight and clean but with corners slightly bumped. Binding is firm and spine is straight. Some sparse and faint discoloration towards outer edges of pages due to handling. Tanning to pages 210 & 211 where a piece of paper was apparently stored for some time. Previous owner’s inscription on front endpaper. See photos for condition.
