Vintage Made In Japan JVC RD-1696 Reel to Reel Tape Recorder / Deck.  Powers up as can be seen in the first pic.  Sold AS IS for parts or repairs. Both spools broken (tip broken off on one) due to damage that occurred during shipping after it sold on here previously for 500 dollars. A good deal for somebody who has the spools for this model or another one of these with the spools that is not working.
