  • White Hummingbird is a small, tropical tree in the legume family native to Malaysia and Australia.
  • This fast growing tree can reach over 32 feet in height and produces clusters of bright white flowers and feathery, pinnate leaves. The flowers, at first glance, resemble a group of fluttering hummingbirds!
  • Also known as the Vegetable Hummingbird Tree as its leaves, flowers, and fruits are all edible. They can be eaten raw or tossed into soups, stews, and stir-fries, and, along with the tree's bark, are also used in traditional South Asian medicine for teas and salves.
  • Start indoors by soaking seeds in warm water for 24 hours prior to planting. Once prepared, sow 2-3 seeds into small, individual pots filled with a moist, soilless potting mix. Cover pots with plastic wrap and keep soil moist until germination, which should occur within 6 - 8 days.
  • 3 - 4 months to maturity.
