1900s "BATTLESHIP PICTURE PUZZLE CUBES" USS MAINE,OLYMPIA, BROOKLYN, OR,TX,NY.

PUZZLE CUBES" made by McLoughlin Bros, New York shortly after the end of the Spanish American War (circa 1900).

There are twenty wooden cubes that can be arranged to make a picture with descriptions of 6 different United States battleships: USS MAINE, USS NEW YORK, USS OLYMPIA, USS OREGON, USS BROOKLYN, and USS TEXAS.

The cubes are made of individual pieces of wood (not solid wood) and are paper covered. Each cube measures 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 2 1/2", and the completed puzzle measures about 10" x 12 1/2".

Includes a print of 5 of the 6 battleships, the USS New Brooklyn print is missing. The USS New York print is has a good size chunk missing. And USS Texas print is in 2 pieces. In good condition, especially for their age are the 2 prints: The Olympia and The Maine. The other prints are brittle and in fair to poor condition with chips, rips, foxing, and missing areas as shown.

Overall the puzzle is in good but condition - it has been played with and most cubes show some paper loss and several have foxing.

The box is a two part wooden sided box with the heavy cardstock top and bottom nailed on. It shows wear and rub with the center, missing paper and overall is in good to poor condition and remains solid. The box itself is in good condition except for the edging of the paper nailed in, which has suffered the most due to age.
