Helen Burlingame Beatty was a successful sculptor and artist who turned to writing children's books in midlife. Many of her books were horse stories, a very popular genre for children and tweens. This title, Blitz: The Story of a Horse, tells the tale of the titular fire horse Blitz.

The book was originally published in 1961; this copy is the first Scholastic paperback printing from 1966. The book is in good condition with flaws consistent with its age and type. The exterior shows some wear, most notably a small tear on the front cover at the bottom left and one triangular chunk out of the back cover at bottom left. There is some discoloration from age. The name of an owner is written on the inside front cover. Otherwise, the interior is clean and unmarked with moderate tanning to the pages and more severe tanning to the inside covers. The binding is tight and intact. See photos for details of condition.

All books are individually evaluated and photos are of the actual book.
