Copies of the first 2 volumes of the 12 volume Chatto & Windus Uniform Editions of Remembrance of Things Past, being Swann's Way Volumes 1 and 2.   18 1/2 cm x 12 1/2 cm, pp. 303, 288.   Both volumes are from 1941 - volume 1, the reprint from that year, volume 2 being a first Uniform Edition copy.
Volume 1 boards are neat and clean, slightly discoloured towards head and foot but has been well protected by the original Enid Marx dust-wrapper which is non-clipped [6s net], spine heavily browned, some tearing and small losses around the head and foot of spine and tips of folds, some old cellotape strengthening to the reverse.   Scattered foxing to the end-papers and prelims; page-block nice and clean, crack to the spine showing webbing at p. 112 but all holding well.
Volume 2 is without the dust-wrapper; boards quite clean and unworn, spine a little darkened, mild rippling to head of front board from some earlier damp or water damage which has also affect the end-papers and prelims; but page-block otherwise clean and unmarked.
