You are looking at a wonderful arts and crafts period piece of hand-made copper that is tin lined--it also has a locking lid ( handles turned in do this)--it also has legs that turn up into the body so that it can sit flat on a surface as well as being raised...it would seem that perhaps at one time with the legs raised burners may have been placed beneath it to keep things hot--but this is just conjecture on my part.

The container is 16 inches long, 2 3/4 deep and  6 inches across and is totally tin lined...
Thanks for looking--this could be repurposed for many things should you choooose to do so--document box; jewlery chest ; herbarium; plant chest container etc...

Thanks for looking--it is unique and well made back in a time period when man made great things--though simple...
Thanks once more...
