  • The Right Width:
    • Watch bands usually have the size information embossed in millimeters on the inside. If this is the case with your watch band and it fits perfectly then you can simply go ahead and buy a new watch strap the same size.
    • Original watch straps are not marked with the size information. If your watch still has the original watch strap then you need to measure the distance between the lugs in order to find out the correct size. Never measure the width of your old leather strap as leather changes in size over time.
    The Right Length:
    • If you are happy with the length of your current watch strap then measure the length of the short piece (without buckle) and the length of long piece of your band in millimeters. You can then simply go ahead and buy a new watch strap with the same length.
    • If your current strap is too long or too short, then measure the length around your wrist and deduct the size of the watch case from it. This number should be in between our maximum and minimum combined length guides.
    • For a perfect fit you can always get extra holes punched in your strap at your local watch shops.
  • A clean and clear table is necessary for not losing any parts during the process. To prevent any damages to the crystal and the case of the watch place your watch face down on a soft cloth or a towel on your table.
    • Always work from the back of the watch.
    • Most watch straps are attached to the watch case with spring bars. Use a sharp jeweller’s screwdriver or a spring bar pushing tool. Put the spring bar pushing tool in between the strap and the watch case lug. Compress the spring bar by applying pressure towards the watch strap and away from the case lug. This will instantly detach the strap from the watch. Carry out the same process for the other side.
    • Avoid low-quality spring bar changing tools as they may slip easily during the process and you may end up scratching your watch with it. If your watch strap is attached with solid push pins then you need a pin removing tool to push the solid bars out.
    • Insert the spring bars into the new watch strap and ensure spring bar is protruding from both ends. While holding the watch case down, insert one end of the spring bar into the lug pinhole. Use your spring bar pushing tool to compress the other side of the spring bar and release it into the other pinhole.
    • To make sure you have installed the new strap correctly and securely, gently pull the strap away from the watch case to ensure it remains attached.
  • You can always use your original buckle with your new watch strap as all our watch straps come with removable buckles attached with spring bars. If you wanted to keep your original buckle just measure the internal width of the buckle in millimeters and refer to our dimensions size guide.
