What a truly fabulous item. Looks to be scratch built by somebody and it has a wonderful naive folk art quality to it, especially with the small heart on the pediment, which is reminiscent of some of the Welsh folk art designs you see in their spoon carving. I think it's a stretch to say this is definitely made in Wales to be honest but it's a possibility with that carved heart.

I think that the wood is oak and it has been what's called scumbled so the front is imitating mahogany. This was quite commonly done and is quite a desirable effect. In this case it's very effective. The wood has also been treated with a wood stain.

There is a big heavy lead weight in the base of the clock and this helps keep it nice and stable.

The barrel clock movement is quite a basic one and is made in Germany and typical of the cheaper clock movement of the time. It's actually ticking a away nicely and has been for the last few days and it has gained an hour in the last 24 so you may be able to get it fairly accurate, however it would most definitely benefit from a service.

It's actually quite a tall and substantial piece and extremely handsome in my opinion.

It would make a truly wonderful addition to any collection.

Came from a very good clearance in the Salisbury area and i have several other miniature Grandfather clocks/pocket watch holders as you can see in the last image, these will also be getting listed. You can see how much taller this one is from the other more standard sized ones.

I would suggest if you like this item that you buy it immediately as this won't hang around long at this price. You will not be disappointed i can promise you this. Please check out my feedback for proof that i am very honest in my descriptions, pricing and selling.
