~ Hand Painted Metal Soldiers Battle of Waterloo Chess Set ~

A fantastic chess set depicting the Battle of Waterloo (1815). One side represents the French led by Napoleon Bonaparte in blues and greys, the other the English led by the Duke of Wellington in racing red!

It consists of 32 metal figures, each one painstakingly hand-painted. The figures measure 6 cm – 7 cm (2 ½ inches approximately). No board is included.

One of the English soldiers from the original set has gone missing in action and has been replaced by a Prussian with a lance. (So that's 7 English and 1 Prussian pawns). As the Prussians and English, both fought the French, this is appropriate and makes a good talking point.

The figures are in very good condition with only light play wear. As you'd expect from something of this age, the white paint has yellowed, adding to the character.
