THE CAMPAIGNS OF STUART'S CAVALRY by H. B. McClellan; PUBLISHER: Blue & Grey Press, Seacaucus, NJ; 1993 copyright; 468 pages.

Major-General J. E. B. Stuart was one of the great commanders of the Confederacy. Lee's most trusted cavalry officer, a gentleman and a dashing figure, he was a hero of the Confederacy and a valiant soldier in the long and torturous war between the states.

McClellan, a cavalry officer himself, and the first serious scholar of Stuart's contribution to the Confederate effort, wrote this military biography and history over a period of years after the war. It was first published in 1885 and is a valuable source for both the daring maneuvers carried out by Stuart and the course of the war in general.
