This is a particularly pretty, antique, hand-painted porcelain china tea service signed by "Crecelius," and made
by Z S & Co. (Zeh, Scherzer & Co. - see
below), Bavaria. The set consists of 5 cups and saucers, 1 extra saucer,
1 teapot, 1 milk jug and 1 sugar bowl, a salt and pepper set and 1 egg cup. The set is an Art Deco
design and the stamp on the bottom dates the set to c 1908-1918. There is
a fruit motif on each piece and the trim, rims and handles are gold. The colors
are a light blue with a very light cream underneath. The interiors are all
white. The set is in excellent vintage condition!! There are no chips, cracks,
crazing or repairs.

The porcelain factory was founded in 1880 as a porcelain factory Zeh, Scherzer & Cie. on the initiative of Johann Nicol Adam Zeh, called Hans, as an open trading company. The Co-founders were Johann Michael Scherzer junior, Georg Adam Winterling, Johann Nicol Jacob junior, Johann Andreas Karl Wölfel, Johann Paulus Hertel. in 1910 there was a conversion to a corporation. At this time the company exported more than 70 percent of their production to the United States, developing into one of the largest porcelain exporters in Bavaria. At times, about 1000 employees were employed in two factories. In 1992, the porcelain factory was dissolved and the company was taken over by the financial investor Allerthal-Werke under the name Scherzer & Co. AG . The brand "Zeh Scherzer" is still highly valued today in collectors' circles.
