This Tiger's Eye Breccia cabochon was cut by my father several many years ago.  The triangle shaped stone features irradescent swirls of golden brown.  The stone is 21 mm by 18 mm by 5 mm and it weighs about 3.364 grams or 16.82 carats.  I don't know the location of where this stone was mined or any other information on it.  My dad's tag on it was very minimal.

With his PhD in Mineralogy, my dad collected many hundreds of rocks and minerals.  He often cut and/or faceted some of the gemstones he collected and then made them into simple jewelry, or sold them to jewelers.  He told me that he "lets the stone dictate the shape" so that his cabochons truly emphasize the best the stone has to offer. Creating such unique shapes puts his work into a different category from the mass cut stones that come from Asia or India.

I'll be posting more of my father's rock collections (rough material, cut stones, pendants, mineral specimens, and other rock related items) off and on for months so do make my store one of your favorites and check in often to see what new items are listed.  I'll gladly combine shipping for purchases made on the same day.  If you win more then one auction please request an invoice so I can adjust the shipping costs before you pay.  Thanks!
