The handles are hard wood or 2 X 4 stock. The sticks are from tree limbs. The joint that connects the grip and the stick is supported by a 3/8-inch dowel with 6 inches in the grip and 6 inches in the handle for added strength. They are stained and finished with five coats of polyurethane.

The walking sticks are ergonomically designed so you stand up straight. This can prevent low back pain from not standing up straight. The ball on the hand grip is used for going down steps or going down slopes.

To determine the correct height of your walking stick simply hold your forearm out horizontal and then raise it about 20 - 25 degrees which is approximately 5-7 inches. Then, measure the distance from the bottom of your hand to the ground and that is the correct height needed for the walking stick. This refers to the height to the grip and not the overall height of the walking stick.
