GMT Games 18 India Boardgame SEALED

Item Description
DESCRIPTION
India's railroad history began in 1837 when The Red Hill Railway used the country's first steam-powered locomotive to carry stone for road work to Madras, modern day Chennai. In 1845, India's first railway was incorporated, the Madras Railway. Sixteen years later, on a warm April day in 1853, a 14-carriage train carrying 400 passengers was hauled 21 miles by three steam locomotives - the Sahib, Sindh, and Sultan - and passenger railway service was thus initiated in India. From there, as they say, the rest is history, and India today has the world's fourth largest railway network.

18 India is an operational railroad game for 2 to 5 people that plays in about 3 hours. The game is inspired by 1829 Mainline by Francis Tresham, and while the venerable Mr. Tresham created some novel mechanics for that game, many of them are not ideal for players that eschew in-game randomness. In 18 India, those random elements are transformed into an amazing level of pre-game variability, which gives each session of the game a different character. Critically, 18 India causes players to think differently about 18XX standards such as train management and investments.

The mechanics in 18 India include: track gauge changes, "Guarantee Companies", competition for commodity contracts, shares with exclusive rights to purchase, train trade-ins, a unique IPO display, and all track upgrades being available from the beginning of the game. By the way, trains do not rust, but there is certainly still a "train rush"!

18 India offers excellent game play variability. Each session features a different mix of companies that are in play leading to variations in route development, company creation, and investment strategies.
"Unlike other 18xx games, there is enough space on the map and variability in the initial companies that you have to build a different route network every game to be competitive."
- Playtester Comment

At game's end, each player's net worth - the value of their stock portfolio, factoring in the book value of the companies, and their cash - is their final score. The player with the most wealth wins.

"Although clearly an 18XX game, 18 India feels like a different game and not the same game on a different map." - Playtester Comment

GAME PLAY
18 India is easy to learn for those new to 18XX, but rich and complex enough to challenge experienced players.

What do you mean trains don’t rust?
In most 18XX games, older trains become obsolete - or “rust”, and leave the game - as newer and better trains become available. In 18 India , trains do not rust. Instead, older trains may be traded in on newer and better trains. Additionally, companies can purchase these used, traded in models, and continue to operate them. Of course, if your railroad companies are not competitive in purchasing the better trains, they will be out-earned and you will have a difficult time winning the game. It is a different type of train rush. Instead of trying to avoid getting caught without a train, companies must find a way to get one of the best trains as quickly as possible.
"The train system works very well. You certainly need to get bigger, better trains to do well, but gone is much of the feeling of impending doom of rusting trains." - Playtester Comment

Commodity Contracts
Railroads can earn extra revenue by delivering commodity goods from the interior of India to its port cities. In 18 India , there is fierce competition to be the first to complete these commodity routes!

Guarantee Companies
To encourage railroad investment and construction, the British Parliament actually guaranteed some of its railways to help entice investors and to incentivize construction. We incorporated this historical tidbit into 18 India by having three Guarantee Companies in play in every game. As an investor, you are guaranteed a 5% dividend payment - even if the railroad does not make any money. What could be better than that?

Exclusive Stock Options
At the beginning of a game of 18 India , players will draft a hand of share certificates. These certificates are stock options that the player may choose to invest in during play. In addition to buying certificates from the IPO and from the Bank Pool during Stock Rounds, players may also choose to purchase the certificates they hold in their hand. Until purchased, the certificates held in your hand are not in play. When purchased, the cost of the share is paid to the corresponding company’s treasury - providing it with operating capital. Of course, there are sometimes reasons to not make all of the possible investments you initially drafted.
"I enjoy how shares of stock end up in the player's investment portfolios. 18 India has captured stock speculation better than any other game in the genre" - Playtester Comment

Unique Initial Public Offering (IPO) Display
One unique aspect of 18 India is how timing of play is affected by IPO share manipulation. During game setup, three rows of shuffled share certificates are placed in the IPO. During a Stock Round, players may use their turn to purchase up to two consecutive shares from any one row. During Operating Rounds, railroad companies may purchase one share from any row.
"It is just damn fun to play with many different levers to pull. Easily one of my top 5 favorite 18XX titles." - Playtester Comment

For a player to be successful, they must draft a coherent and flexible hand of stock options; stand up their first company(ies) quickly and with sufficient capital; then balance dividend payouts (necessary for acquiring more shares in the Stock Rounds) with strategic withholdings (necessary to climb the train roster and maximize route yields). Starting additional “second wave” companies can provide additional flexibility and support for a player’s “premier” company(ies), or be used as a harrying force to complicate other player’s route networks.
"18 India plays well with just two players." - Playtester Comment

18 India has been extensively play-tested, iterated, and refined using feedback from a wide variety of players including some first-time 18XX players, and many long-time veterans. The finely-tuned and unique combination of pre-game variability, stock speculation, commodities, train roster, and intriguing mechanics creates a fresh and engaging game experience with every play.

We specialize in statues and figurines based on popular videogames like Zelda, SuperMario, Sonic, Dark Souls and many others. We also have a large range of figures and toys based on the popular Manga series from the 70s  Grendizer (Goldorak) and MazingerZ. And finally we carry a large selection of popular and hard-to-find boardgames.

We guarantee 100% satisfaction, If you are not happy with your purchase we offer free returns. All our products are 100% genuine, licensed and purchased from the manufacturer directly. No fakes. Certificates of authenticity are always included if they are part of the statue. Please also read the thousands of positive feedbacks and reviews left by our customers, many of which are repeat customers.

We ship 99% of the time within 24 hours. In many cases we allow free local pickups. However, other than a boardgaming store, we do not have physical stores, but rather work with 3rd party fulfillment centers, that do allow pickups for statues. If you are in the Central Florida region we can arrange for you to pick up boardgames locally.

Payment

When you buy an item from us, payment is due immediately. Ebay does not allow for 'payment plans' or 'split payments' (yet)

That said, we can wait a few days if that helps, but more than 3-4 days is not possible.

If you are looking for credit the only option right now that I am aware of is a payment plan offered by Paypal (depending on your credit also) or your credit card itself.

Shipping

We pride ourselves on our fast shipping times, usually 24 hours (1 working day) after you place your order. Tracking is updated in your ebay purchase order automatically, so you can follow your item on its journey to you. If you do not see movement of your item within 2 days please let us know right away and we'll investigate.

Domestically we use USPS, UPS or Fedex at our discretion. USPS is a Priority Service and Fedex and UPS are normally Ground services, although you can opt to upgrade those to Priority or Express services. To see the shipping cost to your location click on 'see details' in the listing.

If you have a PO Box, you can only use USPS. UPS and Fedex do not deliver to PO Boxes.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

Ebay currently uses the ebay International shipping program (eIs) but a lot of the statues are excluded from the program due to the size of the boxes. In many cases I can still ship them with UPS but the cost of shipping has to be determined on an individual basis. Each statue and each country are different. If you are trying to purchase an item and your country is not on the shipping list, send me an email and I can calculate it for you.

As an alternative to this what seems to work for a lot of international buyers is the use of a freight forwarder, such as Planet Express, Parcel Monkey, Aramex or MyUS. There are many such companies in the USA. We would ship to the local drop point (domestic) of your freight forwarder and they would handle the international part of it. Depending on the item you can choose a drop point close to our warehouse in Long Beach, CA (zip 90805), Houton, TX (zip 77054) or Clermont, FL (zip 34711). In those cases, the domestic cost of the shipment would be very low.

Also, you can clear the item through customs yourself.

If you are interested in this, please contact the freight forwarder of your choice and open an account with them. They will provide you with a US shipping address for all your purchases as well as shipping rates.

Please send us an email if you need to know the weight and dimensions of an item.

What is the status of my shipment?

You can track each individual item on ebay.com. Go to 'My eBay' and then click on 'Purchase History' and each item will list a tracking number which if you click it will show the latest known status.

Can I change my address after I placed the order?

Because of ebay regulalations I can only ship it to the address you used during check out. If that is not a good address I will have to cancel the transaction and refund the money and you will have to repurchase the item again and use the correct address this time.

I am not home when Fedex/UPS normally delivers the items. Can you change the address or redirect it to a Fedex store?

The Fedex/UPS account I use belongs to Ebay so I cannot change anything relating to the shipments. After 3 failed delivery attempts Fedex/UPS will hold the item in its local hub for up to 10 days before returning it. You can call the local hub and make arrangements to pick up the item during that period.

Do you offer combined shipping on multiple items?

Yes we do combine shipping. Just add all items to your cart and click 'Request Total from Seller' and "Comnmit to Buy". This does not always work on the ebay mobile app. In case it does not work there, please try it on a pc. After I receive the request I will send an invoice with the total combined shipping charges. Then you can pay. If you do not like the deal I will cancel it without a problem. This is the most efficient way to do it.

As for statues due to their size I cannot combine those in 1 package. The box would also be too big and heavy and it would actually increase the risk of damage as these large boxes are difficult to handle. Thanks for your understanding.

My item is lost in transit, can you help?

Rarely items get lost, but if it takes too long shoot us a message. Also check with your neighbors or front office to see if the item was accidentally delivered there. We can put in an inquiry with the shipper to see if they can locate the item. All items are covered 100% against loss and damage in transit.

I would like to pick up my item, what do I do?

Other than the gaming store in Clermont, we do not have physical stores. We work with 3rd party warehouses in Long Beach, CA and Sturtevant, WI and they do allow pickups. Depending on the item I can arrage for pickups there. And all boardgames (only!) can be picked up in Clermont, FL. If you are interested in a Local Pickup and the item does not have this option available in the shipping section of the listing, let me know and I will fix it.

After the purchase you will be directed to the warehouse where you will have to identify yourself with your driver license and you will be handed the statue. You CANNOT inspect it. These are a 3rd party independent warehouses so all they do is they store my inventory and ship it out. They are not part of my company. If there are any issues you will have to communicate with me.

After the purchase please provide the 6-digit code ebay provides you and I will give you instructions on how to collect the item from the warehouse.
