Vintage 1950s Mouli Cheese Grater Rotary Grinder Red Wood Handle Rustic Decor This is a vintage 1950s cheese grater made in France by MOULI, however it was patented here in the USA and has the USA patent numbers on the sides of the box part that held the cheese before going into grater. The  2 US patents are found on the handle side, they are 2271175 and 2502867. The other side has 2 Patents Pending Numbers, they are 2604916 and 2587186 does not say where they were pending. On the front of the box part is embossed- MOULTI Grater Made in France. The grater is made of aluminum or tin and has a wood spool where you would hold the handle to turn it, arm of the handle is aluminum and thus it is a rotary hand style cheese grater or grinder as many would call it. You could use this for cheese, chocolate, making  Parmesan cheese etc. One would fill the box with a chunk of cheese hold it in the left hand and turn the handle with the right hand compress handle to feed the cheese thru while the grinder is being turned with the right. The grater when closed is 7" Inches long, if opened it is 14" Inches long X 3.5" Inches in Height and width if including handle in measurement is 4.0" Inches, w/o the handle in the measurement it is 2" Wide. The depth of the cheese box is 1.875" Inches.
