I have here for sale a book entitled SPALDING'S OFFICIAL BASEBALL GUIDE for 1936. The official chronicle of America's national game.  Published by Spalding's Athletic Library, this is the genuine original first edition of this classic guide to the beautiful game, published just prior to World War II.

It has been preserved in a red buckram binding with gilt lettering on the spine. This is not a library binding, it was done by DJ Bookbinders of Harmans Cross in Dorset.

The Official Base Ball Guide has over 320 pages of text and photographs, and it is followed by the Official Base Ball Rules, again with its own card covers bound in, and this covers another 64 pages.

The Spalding guides were made to be ephemeral - therefore the paper is light and easily torn. This one is still in very good condition - some nicks on some pages, but overall very good indeed. The front cover has been creased at bottom right, but it has been 'made good' and is scarcely noticeable. 18 cm x 13 cm.
