Summicron M 50mm Version 1 in chrome finish.
1953 was first year of production of the Summicron optical design.  This is a very rare lens.
The Summicron 50mm lens design is still widely enjoyed today 71 years after introduction.

Optics: Coated lens with no separation, fogging, or fungus/mold, and very little haze.
There are some very obvious cleaning/rub marks on the front coatings.  Looks like a single incident, perhaps rubbing against loose lens cap in camera case?  Also a few hairline cleaning marks on rear coating.
Focus: Distance scale in feet.  Focus is smooth, no binding or issues, and infinity lock works properly.
Aperture:  Blades move freely, and are free from surface oil.  Aperture ring moves freely, with detents on full stop markings.  Round aperture produces very beautiful images.
Appearance:  Please review pictures from confirmation.  There are numerous chrome finish marks from use,  the paint work looks nice.  No signs of spanner marks to front ring, and the screws look good.
The aperture index mark and the focus mark don't line up correctly, so the collapsible barrel needs to be reset for matching index mark alignment.  Collapsible chrome barrel shows scratches.

This is a very rare early production Summicron lens.
