Lid/Dustcover Kit for many models of Pioneer Turntable inc PL514

Please read what is written below carefully before you buy

Good quality turntables from the 70's and 80's are now worth serious money and being enjoyed again by owners who were wise enough not to throw them out when CD arrived.  

Nothing tops off a turntable like a new clear dustcover; but for those whose cover has become lost or damaged, the originals are simply no longer available  (frankly, most manufacturers were not really interested in supporting their products beyond the time that they were in the shops).  So, if you think you'll pick up a brand new identical cover which will simply 'drop on' - think again.  But for those who are willing to get out a decent tape measure and fix new hinge mounts to the rear - help is at hand..

This is a clear acrylic lid plus hinge kit for Turntables.  It was originally made to fit a well-known Japanese branded turntable but since many/most turntable plinths have similar dimensions, this has been found to be ideal for replacing lost/broken covers or as part of a record player build/restoration.  The brand is printed onto the small centre label (see picture) and if you can't live with this, it can be removed or covered with a bit of care.

This has been very popular with Pioneer owners as it seems to fit most of the plinths used on models such as the PL514

The lid is a properly moulded item (not of the cheaper 'blown' or fabricated from sheet variety)

Dimensions are:

443mm x 347mm x 69mm (measured externally)

Please measure your plinth and check that these dimensions will be satisfactory

All the PL514 plinths I've seen are 440mm wide so this lid overhangs by 1.5mm at each side which buyers tell me is not noticeable.

The general thickness of the acrylic is just over 3mm.  The lower edge (i.e. the edge which is in contact with the record player) is 4mm all round

The lid comes complete with a pair of hinges and a pair of hinge mounting bases.  The hinges are compatible with the lid - fitting into a formed 'pocket' on the rear face, and the hinge bases can be screwed to the rear of the turntable plinth (we even include the screws in the kit).  This allows the lid to be opened with the hinges supporting the lids weight; or removed completely simply by lifting off.
