As everyone knows these softcover magazines were made for children to read and use so right away the survival rate becomes very low. Add in all the parents who have thrown the magazines in the trash when their kids became teens or went away to college and the others which just rotted away from not being stored right and you get an idea how scarce many of these older issues become, especially the ones before 1970. These weren't made to last 40, 50 or 60 years so finding any that are in nice shape and haven't been cut to pieces or filled with writing can be a bit of a challenge!

Not long ago I was in either a dentist office or at the chiropractor and I happened to pick up a current copy of Highlights for Children and it just wasn't how I remembered it when I read them as a child.

When I came across a group of the older ones for sale at a yard sale recently I snapped them up and yup, these are the ones that have all the cool stuff I loved to read as a kid.

Who DOESN'T remember "Find the Pictures," "Hidden Pictures," "Goofus & Gallant," "The Bear Family," the riddles, quiz's, jokes, great stories, biographies of famous people, "brain work" and of course my personal favorite, "The Timbertoes?"

The issues are packed with so much stuff and a lot of the stories are still very readable today, even as an adult!

So here they are, offered for your enjoyment, a number of extremely interesting magazines from the 1950's, 60's & early 1970's sure to entertain, inform & possibly intrigue you for just a few dollars each.

Whether you're feeling nostalgic yourself or for a gift of some kind for someone, these are truly pieces of Americana history that are rapidly disappearing with the past so hopefully someone will now become the next custodian of these unique glimpses into America 40-70 years ago!

While the covers DO show a little bit of their age, the inside pages of these old magazines are in GREAT condition and overall they are in surprisingly solid shape.
