It is HIGHLY likely that this scarce Hardcover version is the ONLY example you will find for sale on eBay at the present time! Don't let it get away....who knows when you'll find another?

I don't normally stock Highlights later than the early to mid 1970's but being one of the scarce Hardcover editions I made an exception in this case. Unless otherwise noted, the issues are mostly clear of writing and are in nice shape with NO missing pages. Overall, most of the books are oh so close to mint.

I will describe anything in more detail further down where I list "Condition."

                                                                                                          Here's a very hard-to-find HARDCOVER version of

                                                                                               Highlights Magazine May, 1983.

                                                                                              Volume 38, NO. 5.

                                                                                          Magazine Name: Highlights For Children

Highlights for Children (referred to as simply Highlights) is an American children's magazine. It began publication in June 1946, started by Garry Cleveland Myers and his wife Caroline Clark Myers in Honesdale, Pennsylvania (the present location of its editorial office). They both worked for another children's magazine, Children's Activities, for 12 years before leaving to start Highlights. The company is presently based in Columbus, Ohio, and owns book publishers Zaner-Bloser, Stenhouse Publishers, and Boyds Mills Press. Highlights has surpassed a billion copies in print.

Month/Publication Year:  May, 1983.

Subject: Education for children

Condition: This book is in EXTREMELY nice Condition inside and the hardcover editions are rather scarce as the majority were printed in the typical softcover version that we are all so familiar with.  I would give this a 9.5 out of a possible 10.

43 pages.

Not long ago I was in either a dentist office or at the chiropractor and I happened to pick up a current copy of Highlights for Children and it just wasn't how I remembered it when I read them as a child.

When I came across a group of the older ones for sale at an estate auction recently I snapped them up and yup, these are the ones that have all the cool stuff I loved to read as a kid.

Who DOESN'T remember "Find the Pictures," "Hidden Pictures," "Goofus & Gallant," "What's Wrong?" "Headwork," "Aloysius," the riddles, quiz's, jokes, great stories of all types & subjects, biographies of famous people, and of course my personal favorite, "The Timbertoes?"

These issues are packed with so much stuff and a lot of the stories are still very readable today, even as an adult!

So here they are, offered for your enjoyment, a number of extremely interesting magazines from the 1950's, 60's & early 1970's sure to entertain, inform & possibly intrigue you for just a few dollars each.

Whether you're feeling nostalgic yourself or for a gift of some kind for someone, (I've sold many of the softcover ones so far as birthday presents) these are truly pieces of Americana history that are rapidly disappearing with the past so hopefully someone will now become the next custodian of these unique glimpses into America 35-70 years ago!

While SOME of the covers DO show a little bit of their age with some minor shelf wear, the inside pages of these old magazines are in GREAT condition and overall they are in surprisingly solid shape.
