Lady by Onie Craig as told to Nixon Smiley, E.A. Seeman Pub., Miami, FL, 1976, hardbound, 180 pgs. Autobiography of a Miami pioneer who lived in South Dade on Silver Palm, married and divorced W.H. Cauley (Cauley Square) whom she describes as a drunk. She later married Charlie Fuchs, owner of Holsum Bakery in South Miami and moved to Coral Gables. Charlie Fuchs got chopped up in the blades of the airboat he was riding in when he fired at a deer as mud in the barrel kicked him backward. This book has plenty of historical information, names of locals and photos including Silver Palms School and homes at 6200 Riviera Drive and 1101 Castile Ave. in Coral Gables, and Jungle Acres on SW 80th St., where Charlie owned 40 acres close to U.S. 1. Very good, gift inscription. SEE MY OTHER LISTINGS FOR MORE FLORIDA BOOKS.
