Images 1966–1967 is a 1973 compilation album by English
singer-songwriter David Bowie. It comprises his 1967 self-titled
debut album for Deram
Records and various singles and B-sides recorded
for Deram between 1966 and 1967. The
arrangements on this compilation are not reminiscent of the glam rock that
broke Bowie through to success. They are mostly orchestral with sound effects created in the recording studio.
The music was recorded early in Bowie's career when he was still in obscurity,
from 1966 to 1967. At the time he was signed to Deram Records, who dropped him
in 1968 due to poor sales, before his first hit, "Space
Oddity", in 1969. At the time of the music's
recording, Bowie was influenced by the London cabaret scene and the song styles
created therein, particularly the work of singers such as Anthony
Newley.
This copy is an original 1973 US pressing on the London label. In general, the vinyl on all four sides looks excellent to near mint, but has the following exceptions: There are some visible marks on the second song on side three, but per a test listen they do not affect playback. Also, both discs seem a bit "wavy" as they spin, which I believe is slight warping, but again, this does not affect playback. For these reasons, despite their great appearance in general, I have decided to rate the vinyl as only being is in Very Good [VG] condition. I think you will be happily surprised when you see their actual condition. :-)
The cover has a clipped upper right corner and a removed sticker mark in the upper left corner (both when viewed from the front - see photos). Very light ring wear near the top on both sides and some general soiling due to handling a white cover (again, see photos). Otherwise bright, with no splits or other damage, the cover condition is in Very Good [VG] condition.
The original inner sleeves have the "S-2" in the lower left corner as mentioned in the notes (below). They both have wrinkles near a couple of corners, and one has about a 2 inch split on the bottom edge. Otherwise, there are no tears, writing, stains, etc. The inner sleeves are in Very Good [VG] condition.
