Today we are pleased to offer this well preserved volume by Ulysses S. Grant!
A great find from a local Massachusetts estate!
This antique volume is over 130 years old!
Nicely preserved overall! Original publisher cloth exterior is in good condition for its age, showing some rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, wear to the joints, some general wear around the extremities including bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and some light soiling to the page edges. Gilt lettering to the spine displays nicely from the shelf despite some rubbing, and the silver lettering to the front board displays nicely off the shelf. A well-preserved antique volume overall!
Internally this volume is in good shape as well. There is visible cracking to the front hinge, and the first page grouping including the free endpaper and half title page is loosely attached to the binding, but with that said, both boards and all page groupings remain attached to the binding. This volume does not feel overly loose despite this wear. Former owner’s signature visible in pen on the front free pastedown endpaper. Otherwise clean and free from bookplates, inscriptions and library markings.
The text block itself is in good condition throughout. Pages show just light toning typical of age, as well as some light foxing and soiling scattered throughout, but otherwise this volume is very clean and free from rips, tears, writing and markings. Perfectly readable throughout!
