The hardcover is in a green cloth with a gold gilt for the title writing and National Geographic Society logo at the bottom as well as the spine. The end pages are decorated with swordfish and are discolored near the binding.  The rear endpage is unmarked and also stained. The ends of the pages are clean and unmarked. There is slight wear to the hard cover edges on the base and top from shelf wear. Along the sides of the spine are some dis colouration. The illustrations are absolutely stunning and there are many paintings throughout the book marked by the illustrators I listed on the item specifics page. The species that are portrayed are listed in the front for the coler plates.

This is a revised and enlarged edition presenting the better known species of food and game fishes of the coastal and Inland waters of the United States. It is edited by the vice president of the National Geographic Society. There are 443 color portraits, 102 biographies, and 152 pages.  It's very heavy.
