• DISCUSSION: Striking modernist Kosta Boda Swedish art glass vase, by the great master Bertil Vallien. This Scandinavian beauty is in translucent, non-homogeneous white mold-blown glass accented in classic minimalist form with two groups of several whimsical bright-colored vertical striations. The piece is shown in both cool and very warm color temperature lighting, as well as different intensity backgrounds in an attempt to exhibit the piece's appearance extremes. The base is signed and number-coded. Engraved by hand on the bottom by the artist, "BODA, B. Vallien, 48290." An excellent addition to an art glass collection, or a thoughtful gift!

About the Artist
Bertil Vallien
for Kosta Boda
Bertil Vallien is one of the most famous and highly respected European glass artists, an artist who needs no further introduction for anyone who loves the beauty and mystery of glass. A contemporary of Tagliapietra, he hails from Sweden. He graduated at the top of his class at Stockholm's University of Art and Design and has worked as a freelance designer for Kosta Boda Glassworks in Sweden since 1963. During his 60-year career, Vallien has become renowned among glass lovers. He has held acclaimed exhibitions all over the world. His work is represented in collections and at prestigious museums in Sweden and internationally. For Kosta Boda, Vallien is of priceless importance – primarily for his own glass art, but also as a source of inspiration for other artists and designers. In 2023, Bertil Vallien and Kosta Boda celebrate 60 years of partnership. Kosta Boda Glassworks has been in operation since 1742!
